Our trip to Nepal was nothing short of life-changing. The immersion and education of the culture of Nepal, including Hindu and Buddhist traditions was nothing I ever dreamed of experiencing. Uncle Kook’s created an itinerary that perfectly blended culture with nature with spirituality. All of our transport and accommodations were taken care of and the only thing we ever had to worry about was fully experiencing everything Nepal has to offer. We visited temples, explored the cities of Kathmandu and Pokhara, and did a four-day trek through the Himalayas. I am notoriously type A and have previously loved planning all my vacations myself (down to having Google sheets for each day), so I was hesitant at first to book a trip that’s all planned for me…but I am so glad I did. I had been so busy and stressed with work the month prior that I showed up literally barely even glancing at the itinerary – and it was incredible. Kook coordinated everything, from airport pickup, to the BEST travel guide, to meals, to amazing hotels. Just being able to show up and experience another country’s culture and landscape was a relaxing, exciting, and life changing experience. On the trip, I also met 16 of the most amazing people – another testament to Kooks planning. We each had enough individual time and ability to go off and have our own experiences while being able to be together and make deep connections. I spontaneously signed up for a solo trip to Guatemala, and it turned out to be the best experience of my life. Kaleigh was incredibly caring, friendly, and accommodating throughout the journey. The entire itinerary was thoughtfully curated, blending walks, tours, cultural experiences, and shopping. It was the kind of vacation where you can lose yourself so completely that you forget your everyday life. This trip made me realize that there is so much more to life than the routine we get used to. Kaleigh’s Guatemala Trip was one of the best trips I’ve ever been on. What made this experience so special for me was meeting an incredibly genuine, supportive, and fun group of people who quickly became friends. The group was brought closer together by the collective challenge of hiking Acatenango and experiencing the awe of the summit. This group made me laugh, listen, push myself to face a challenge, and jump (literally cliff dive) knowing they’d catch me at the bottom. Kaleigh brings good people together. She takes the time to be welcoming and check-in with everyone. She’s so personable and reassuring. I came on this trip solo not knowing anyone but left having made friends. I was challenged physically and mentally to overcome fear and the limits of what I think I can do. I connected with others and am leaving this trip feeling grown, more confident in myself, and fulfilled! I am forever grateful for this trip! I can’t wait for my next trip with her!! Traveling to Cape Town & along the Garden Route in South Africa with Kooks as our guide was nothing short of a dream. Every day felt like a new, awe inspiring adventure. Kaleigh knows how to curate a vibe and will enable you to fully immerse in what a region has to offer- from thrill seeking adventures (we went canyoneering and backpacking), indulging in local cuisine, to relaxing in the most scenic places you could ever imagine. I went on the 4 day Labor Day weekend trip with Kook’s Wild Ride and it was truly a magical weekend! Kaleigh does a phenomenal job of incorporating nature, adventure, reflections and local food and sights into her trips. The trip was a perfect balance of organization/adherence to the schedule so we could see/do the most, while also allowing spontaneity and free time to explore, have conversations and connect with one another. I loved how each morning before leaving our campsite we started the day with a reflection, intention, quote or meditation to help us guide our experience for the day. This particular trip with Uncle Kook’s was one to remember! I have also been on other trips with Kaleigh before the formal birth of Uncle Kook’s Wild Ride, and I cannot speak high enough of how Kaleigh makes a point to connect to the local cultures of where we are traveling, encourages us to get out of our comfort zones (Hello cliff jumping at Crater Lake!! Hello trying a local, grilled mopani worm in Zimbabwe!!), and facilitates connecting deeper with ourselves, with each other and with nature. If you have the opportunity to go on an Uncle Kook’s adventure, you won’t regret it!! ! Being a beginner camper I was a little nervous going in – but Kook’s experience, attitude and inclusiveness made me feel super comfortable! Everything was well thought out and executed. My trip to South Africa with Kook was without a doubt the best trip I have ever been on. As a person who had really only traveled in the US and Europe, I wanted to go somewhere different and that I had never experienced before. Kook delivered just that. I couldn’t have dreamed of having so many new experiences in one trip… hiking many miles in the gorgeous Tsitsikama mountains, kloofing in the valleys of the earth, enjoying Pinotage wine at a farm, dancing in tide pools, getting tattoos in a jewelry shop under the full moon, watching a monkey steal our bread, experiencing a jungle thunderstorm in a tree house, and so so many more. These adventures that she planned for the trip I couldn't have even imagined doing and I have no idea how I would have sought them out myself. But she has a vision and she has a way of finding the most special little corners of the earth and curating the most ethereal but earthly and human aura for the whole trip. What I love most about journeys with Kaleigh is how she shows you the art of being present, without ever saying a word. She just moves through each moment with a curiosity and appreciation, and before you know it, you’re doing the same. It’s a gift she gives without meaning to—a gentle lesson in seeing, in savoring, in simply being—and watching others fall into that rhythm alongside her is truly beautiful. I often leave trips totally drained. But left South Africa with Kook more brave, more present, and more whole. And that has stuck with me many years later.
